Should sports teams with offense names be forced to change?

I did some research on the Internet, and I found that the use of native American images as logos, mascots, logos, etc caused some controversy. As a Chinese, I couldn’t understand why such an act was demeaning to the indians and offensive. Maybe the United States is a country of immigrants, I can’t do empathy.

I checked wikipedia, it says how much this kind of behavior can cause some offend, Anil, dejan o tower jas (Anil Adyanthaya) on June 5, 2005, the Boston newspaper earth (Boston Globe) wrote: “the Aztec (along) and Seminole (Seminole) as a nickname, it itself does not seem to be racist, because the name refers to a specific civilization, rather than a whole groups of people. From this point of view, they are no different from trojans, spartans (ancient peoples like the aztecs), or other school team nicknames such as fighting the Irish or flying the Dutch (of a certain nationality, like the seminoles). So it’s hard to identify any way in which their use is particularly derogatory.” (Wikipedia – Native American mascot controversy)

Actually, I don’t think this behavior is very offensive. China often USES the image of ethnic minorities, such as tibetans, to carry out consumption behaviors, such as advertising, activities, festivals and so on. I do not believe that these ACTS have tarnished the image of the native americans or harmed their interests.
